(Washington, DC) (December 13, 2019) – Specialty Steel Industry of North America (SSINA) Chairman Dennis M. Oates released the below statement following this week’s agreement paving the way for ratification of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA):
“We welcome this week’s announcement to move forward with the landmark U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, modernizing NAFTA and strengthening the North American steel industry. In particular, we are grateful for the administration’s commitment to provisions that will further incentivize the consumption of North American steel, better positioning us as we compete against unfair foreign trade and bringing more certainty to our markets. We applaud Ambassador Lighthizer and Congress for this significant achievement and we look forward to a strong bipartisan vote.”
